Richmond's Home Front Festival Saturday includes tons of fun activities at three waterfront sites

The 8th Annual Home Front Festival is scheduled for this Saturday and will include a slew of fun activities at three coastal sites in Richmond, including a 5K and 10K fun run and a family bike ride.

The 5K and 10K fun run and walk will kick off at 9 a.m. at Craneway Pavilion. The $25 cost to participate for adults ($20 for kids) will benefit the Hilltop YMCA youth fitness programs. For more information on the fun run, visit here (also see the flyer below for more information).

After the fun run, free Home Front Festival activities will begin at three sites, all running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can head to the Red Oak Victory Ship for a tour, movie and darn good hot dog.

Also, visitors are encouraged to check out the new permanent collection of artifacts at the Rosie the Riveter National Park Visitor Center for free.

And perfect for families with kids, Lucretia Edwards Park will be the site of the Kids Can Do It! Family Festival, which includes a number of children’s activities including a choo choo train, arts and crafts, bicycle safety demonstrations and live entertainment.

At 1 p.m., a family bike ride, costing $5 per person or family, will head from the Park Visitor Center to the Red Oak Victory Ship and back. The ride is hosted by Richmond’s bicycle advocacy group Rich City Rides.

See the flyer below for more information on these super fun events.
