At this unique one-time pop-up restaurant, diners will have limited choices: Soup, bread and water.

But what they will get in return at the annual Empty Bowls Project 2014 at Contra Costa College on Oct. 10 will be far more satisfying.

The event is a fundraiser for Richmond-based Bay Area Rescue Mission, a nonprofit serving the region’s homeless, and is meant to raise awareness about world hunger.

Arriving guests are asked to choose an empty ceramic bowl crafted by CCC ceramics students, with each empty bowl representing persistent hunger around the world. Guests can keep the bowl, which will then be filled with soup selected by CCC’s culinary arts students.

The event, which is open to the community, is set to run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Three Seasons Restaurant AA-239 at Contra Costa College.
