The legendary metal band Exodus, which formed in Richmond in 1980 and is widely credited with pioneering the Bay Area’s thrash metal scene, is nearing the release of its 10th studio album.

“Blood In, Blood Out” is due for release on Oct. 14. A YouTube video featuring one of the album’s tracks is below. The song is receiving rave reviews from fans on the Exodus Facebook page.

Richmond-born guitarist Gary Holt (now living in Pinole) is the longest running member of Exodus, having joined the band in 1981 and becoming a main songwriter. He also joined metal giant Slayer at guitar after the band’s founding member Jeff Hanneman died from an illness in 2011.

Exodus, which will be touring in Brazil in early October, also features Lee Altus (guitars), Tom Hunting (drums), Steve ‘Zetro’ Souza (vocals), and Jack Gibson (bass).

We encourage you to read this recent interview with Souza regarding the new album.
