A man sitting in a parked car in Richmond late Saturday morning was injured by shattered glass after a suspect opened fire into the vehicle, police said Monday.

Police responded to the 700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. about 11:30 a.m. after the city’s ShotSpotter detection system picked up seven shots fired in the area, Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The suspect was reportedly walking on the sidewalk when shots were fired into the vehicle. The man inside the vehicle was sprayed in the face with shattered glass, Abetkov said.

He suffered from cuts to his cheek. No other injuries were reported.

Police are still searching for the shooter. A description of the suspect was not available.
