A 30-year-old man who police say has on multiple occasions posed as Houston-area rapper Mike Jones in an attempt to withdraw money from local banks was arrested in Richmond Monday.

Rickey Pickens was busted after trying to use a fake ID when attempting to withdraw cash from the Mechanics Bank at 4100 Macdonald Ave. about 4:45 p.m., police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

Pickens pretended to be Jones, but employees knew better, Abetkov said, as they had recently attended a training session warning them that a crook had been trying to pose as a rapper at local Mechanics Bank branches.

Richmond police were called and Pickens, who had been on parole for a previous robbery, fled the bank when they arrived and resisted arrest in the parking lot, Abetkov said. Police had to subdue him with a Taser in order to arrest him, she added.
