‘Unidentified objects’ shatter window on Amtrak train east of Richmond

Amtrak is investigating what caused a window on a train to partially shatter about 6 miles east of Richmond.

Amtrak is investigating a possible vandalism incident after the window of a train traveling with 50 passengers partially shattered about 6 miles east of Richmond.

Objects that have not been identified apparently struck the window about 4 p.m. as the train was headed toward Sacramento from Oakland, Amtrak spokesperson Vernae Graham said Wednesday.

The exact location of the incident was not immediately clear, but Graham said it occurred in an  “open area” about 6 miles east of the Richmond station.

None of the 50 passengers aboard the train was injured, Graham said.

Understandably, some passengers told KTVU (Ch. 2) they were terrified by the incident. KTVU obtained and published photos of the damaged glass.
