West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) students are encouraged to apply for free public transit passes to get to school this fall.

West Contra Costa County students are encouraged to apply for free WestCAT transit passes to get to school this fall.

Apply here for Pass2Class, a 511 Contra Costa program that encourages the use of buses to school in order to reduce traffic congestion and pollution and the cost for low-income parents.

Applications have been available online since Aug. 4 and will remain so until Oct. 6. Parents or guardians must complete a form and agree to have their children take the bus to school instead of driving them.

“Students must be registered in a public or private school (grades 1-12) located in Crockett, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Hercules, Kensington, Pinole, Richmond, Rodeo or San Pablo,” according to the program website.

Each student is eligible to receive two 12-ride WestCAT trips. Up to three students per household can receive the passes, which do not expire.
