The Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP) is seeking donations in advance of its 28th annual Harmony Walk & 5K Race to End Hunger in Richmond, which is scheduled for Saturday morning, Oct. 25.
More than 1,000 participants are expected for the community event, which is set to take place at Richmond Civic Center Plaza from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Participants receive a free, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast along with free admission to the Harmony Walk Community Fair & Festival, which includes a petting zoo, youth activities, music, booths, giveaways and more.
GRIP is encouraging offices, congregations, schools and clubs to form running and walking teams for the event. Prospective teams should contact Kia Croom at email@example.com or 510-233-2141 ext. 304.
GRIP also encourages companies and organizations to exhibit at the Harmony Walk Community Fair and Festival. Exhibitor booths cost $60 for businesses and $40 for nonprofits. Those wishing to exhibit should also contact Croom.
“This is a great way to get exposure for your company,” Croom said, while also helping feed the hungry.
Proceeds from the Harmony event will benefit the GRIP Family Housing Program, a 75-bed shelter set to house more than 200 homeless men, women and children this year, along with the GRIP Souper Center (soup kitchen), which will serve more than 90,000 meals to homeless and hungry individuals and families this year.
Chevron Richmond and Mechanics Bank are sponsoring the event this year.
