Richmond Parkway between West Macdonald and West Ohio avenues was temporarily shut down in both directions Tuesday morning after a tanker truck flattened its tires on damaged railroad tracks and is blocking the roadway, police said.
While rolling over the railroad tracks on West Ohio Avenue about 4:15 a.m., some plates from the tracks became dislodged and flattened some of the truck’s tires, police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
Before removing the tanker truck from the roadway, crews had to offload the product it is hauling, possibly fuel, Abetkov said. Also, crews from BNSF Railway must fix the tracks.
That’s why the roadway did not open until about noon.
No injuries were reported.
