One of the Rosie the Riveters who recently appeared on “Good Morning America” (video below) and met the president and vice president at the White House is now trying to establish a national Rosie the Riveter Day, the West County Times reported.

Phyllis Gould, 92, who worked at the Richmond shipyards in the early 1940s, has been writing to her congressman about establishing a national day of remembrance for all women who worked in factories while men battled in WWII, the newspaper reported. The date under consideration is Oct. 29.

Find out why that date is significant, and what a congressman had to say about Rosie the Riveter, by reading the full West County Times article.
