Well here’s a fun story.

Marshawn Lynch, the Seattle Seahawks superstar, Oakland native and Point Richmond resident, recently attended the TK Day celebration at Nicholl Park.

The event honored Terrance Kelly, the 18-year-old De La Salle football star from Richmond who was tragically shot and killed a decade ago. Lynch came in support of the positive event and was by several accounts having a ball with local kids.

We encourage you to read an account from Contra Costa Times reporter Robert Rogers, whose piece tipped us off to the Lynch sighting. In the paper’s Eye on the East Bay column, Rogers said when he noticed Lynch, the NFL star known as the “Beast” was wearing a hooded sweater and “horsing around with a gaggle of kids.”

The TK Day Facebook page showed a photo of Lynch standing next to a young man at the event.

“Marshawn was great with the kids,” a commenter said of the photo. “They just loved him and gravitated to him.”

Lynch vehemently distrusts the media, and so when Rogers approached him we were a little worried. But Rogers, himself a Richmond resident, played it cool. Read the full Contra Costa Times story to see what Rogers said to Lynch, and what Lynch said about Rogers’ Raiders cap.
