Jeffrey Parker, a Salesian College Preparatory alum, was called a key returning starter on this year’s Western Washington University basketball team, which announced its upcoming schedule Monday.

The 6-6 sophomore forward is looking to build upon a successful freshman season in which he averaged nearly 12 points per game with the Vikings, according to the university.

Fellow returning starters include 6-7 senior Anye Turner of Olympia, Wash., and 6-7 sophomore Joey Schreiber of Renton, Wash. Big play is also expected from junior gaurd Ricardo Maxwell of Cincinnati.

The Vikings just barely missed a third straight trip to the NCAA Division II West Regional last season. The team won the national title in 2012 and reached the national semifinals in 2013.

This year’s campaign begins with the team hosting the Chuck Randall Classic, playing Notre Dame de Namur on Nov. 14 and Hawaii Hilo on Nov. 15. The Vikings then travel to Puerto Rico for games against Puerto Rico-Bayamon, Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and an exhibition with American University-Puerto Rico.
