A loaded gun was seized following a police pursuit across Richmond Saturday night that persisted even after the suspects’ vehicle endured two flat tires, police said.

The incident unfolded about 10:15 p.m., when police tried to pull over a vehicle that was driving recklessly near State Avenue just east of Kennedy High School, police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The driver failed to yield and the subsequent pursuit took officers down Cutting Boulevard and eventually eastbound onto I-80, Abetkov said. The suspect vehicle then exited on Solano Avenue, traveled onto Amador and then fled eastbound on San Pablo Dam Road.

The driver kept going even though the car’s tires were somehow flattened on the off-ramp, Abetkov said.

Once the car reached San Pablo Dam Road near Morrow Drive, it stopped and a woman hopped out and fled on foot. Officers caught and arrested the woman, identified as 20-year-old Erin Abraham of Richmond. Abraham was allegedly found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, Abetkov said.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Kameron Wilhite of Richmond, kept driving after Abraham hopped out. He abandoned the car at El Portal Avenue and was caught following a short foot pursuit.

Wilhite was booked into jail on charges including evading police and reckless driving, while Abraham was booked for possessing a firearm, Abetkov said.
