Just graduated Salesian basketball star Mariya Moore received a nice mention last week in the Lexington Herald-Leader of Kentucky.

Moore, who is set to start her college career at Louisville this fall, was named by sports columnist Mark Story as the “Cardinals women’s basketball player I’m most curious to see” this year.

“Also a McDonald’s All-American, the 6-foot guard from Richmond, Calif., will help [Louisville head coach] Jeff Walz try to replace Shoni Schimmel,” Story wrote.

At Salesian, Moore started all 137 games she played in and amassed 2,396 points, 1,110 rebounds, 878 assists, 535 steals, and 81 blocked shots. She connected on 47-percent of her shots from the field and 80-percent from the line. She also led the Salesian Pride last season to the team’s first ever appearance in the finals of California’s highest division.
