Five separate fires at a shuttered middle school in East Richmond Heights on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning are under investigation, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the former Adams Middle School at 5000 Patterson Circle about 11:05 p.m. Tuesday. They found light smoke emanating from the school and located four separate fires in the main building on campus, officials said. Firefighters then had to respond to a fifth fire Wednesday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Adams Middle School was closed in 2009 and its students relocated after the building was deemed seismically unsafe.

  1. This school has been vacant for a long time. The church & school in front of it bares the brunt of the problems from this abandonment. Dumping of trash p, etc( people hanging out on their grounds and now Arson!
