The annual Music on the Main free concert series, brought to us by the Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI), is set to kick off Wednesday night with a performance from R&B diva Rhonda Benin.

The concert will occur from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the lot next to the new BART parking garage on the corner of Marina Way and Macdonald Avenue.

Also performing are MZSwitchedUp, a group consisting of two sisters who exhibit their skills on various instruments while serving up R&B classics, and 2morrows June, a group supported by the Richmond Police Activity League that performs some of today’s most popular music, such as hits by Maroon 5 and Adele.

A second concert will take place Aug. 27 and will feature Andre Thierry and Zydeco Magic.

Expect family-friendly activities at this year’s concert events, including Zumba fitness breaks, wine, artisan and food vendors, drawing prizes, and more.

Music on the Main is sponsored by the City of Richmond, Chevron, Mechanics Bank, SimsMetal, and Nutiva. Additional support for Music on the Main comes from the Downtown Richmond Property Based Business Improvement District.

Mark your calendar! First of free upcoming Music on the Main concerts July 23.
