Richmond police to hold another DUI checkpoint at Cutting/41st on Friday night

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect accused of assaulting and robbing an 87-year-old woman at an ATM in Point Richmond earlier this month, police said.

The incident occurred July 5 about 6:45 p.m., when the elderly victim was withdrawing money from the ATM at Mechanics Bank at 4 Richmond Ave., police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

After the victim received the money, she was reportedly pushed to the ground by a woman who snatched the money and hopped in the front passenger seat of a vehicle parked nearby. The victim suffered a broken hip during the  assault, Abetkov said.

Police have released grainy surveillance camera images of the vehicle and thief (see below), hoping members of the public will be able to identify them. The suspect was described as a black woman between ages 25 and 35 standing between 5-5 and 5-7 and weighing about 145 pounds.

If anyone has any information, call Det. Hector Ezparza at (510) 620-6673. Those wanting to remain anonymous can call (510) 232-TIPS (8477).
