The victim of an armed robbery in Richmond got a second chance at catching the thieves when the suspects returned to the scene of the crime to steal again, police said.

The incident unfolded about 1 a.m., when armed robbers stole the victim’s cellphone, wallet and car keys outside his home in the 800 bock of S. 45th Street, police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

More than an hour later, the suspects returned to the home and allegedly pulled a gun on the victim’s wife and stole his car, Abetkov said. The victim would not be robbed twice, as he hopped in another car, called 911 and guided police toward the suspects, who sped off on Cutting Boulevard and got onto eastbound Interstate 80.

Police eventually caught up to the suspects, who failed to yield before crashing on the El Portal Driver off-ramp, Abetkov said.

Five suspects, four of whom are not being named because they are minors between the ages of 15 and 17, were arrested on a slew of felony charges related to the armed robbery. The fifth supsect, Phillip Jackson, was named because he just turned 18 on Thursday.
