A Richmond man who has been arrested nine times in the past on DUI charges — resulting in four convictions — was busted again on the same charge Friday after leading police on a slow-speed pursuit.
Derrick Garcia, 55, ran a red light in the 2200 block of Barrett Avenue about 11:30 p.m., but then failed to stop when police tried to pull him over, Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said Monday.
Garcia allegedly circled the immediate blocks several times at about 20 mph with police trailing him, Abetkov said.
He eventually stopped and was taken into custody without further incident.
“A follow up investigation revealed he was already on felony probation for DUI, with nine prior arrests resulting in four convictions,” Abetkov said.
