The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has awarded the City of Richmond’s Recreation tennis program six scholarships sending local youths to a camp in July at Sonoma State University.

Those receiving the scholarships include Cienna Clark, Chandani Battle, Lauren Ross, Rishab Vaidhyanathan and Michael Viscara. Players must be between ages 12 to 17 and be at least an intermediate skill-level player to receive a scholarship. Those headed to the summer camp have played team tennis with Richmond Recreation for the past two summers.

That’s not all the local tennis news we have for you today.  Cassidy Clark, 10, and Cienna Clark, 14, won their respective age groups at a recent USTA tournament at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville. Meanwhile, Lauren Ross, 12, reached the semifinals of the 12-under group.
