Two suspects Richmond police refer to as “frequent flyers” for their habitual encounters with law enforcement landed back in jail following incidents during the last two days.
One of the suspects, a 37-year-old Richmond man, reportedly admitted to being under the influence of cocaine early Sunday while driving erratically near S. Eighth Street and Florida Avenue, police spokesperson Nicole Abetkov said.
After officers pulled the man over, they immediately knew him and know that he has abused cocaine in the past, Abetkov said.
“Also he admitted to being under the influence of cocaine at the time,” Abektov said, adding that the suspect still received a blood test following his arrest.
The following day, another “frequent flyer” was reportedly arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident at a storage facility in the 300 block of Canal Boulevard. Police were called to the area about 10 a.m. Monday on a report that the 29-year-old woman had assaulted her boyfriend with a storage facility padlock.
“They got into an argument over property that was in the storage facility and she winds up taking hte padlock and striking him in the wrist and arm, causing some bruising and swelling,” Abetkov said.
Abetkov said she was personally called to a home to arrest the woman.
“I went up to the area, she’s standing outside of the house talking with somebody in the yard,” Abetkov said, adding the suspect “knows me, and I know her.”
The woman was arrested without incident, the police spokesperson said.
