Michael Shumake, 37, of Richmond, was identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as the person who was fatally struck by a westbound Capitol Corridor train Thursday afternoon.

Shumake was reportedly struck near Nevin Avenue and 19th Street about 3:40 p.m., authorities said. None of the train’s 64 passengers or the crew were injured.

The train had reportedly been traveling from Sacramento to Oakland.
