De Anza High School is getting a Junior ROTC program this fall despite opposition from anti-military activists, the West County Times reported.

Trustees for the West Contra Costa Unified School District voted 4-1 in favor of funding the proposed Air Force program. Proponents believe the program offers opportunity, discipline and education to students, while opponents believe JROTC prepares youths for war and simply doesn’t warrant funding over other educational programs.
