The pistol-whipping and robbery of a bicyclist near the El Cerrito BART station late Wednesday led to the arrest of five juveniles and two Richmond men, police said.

The incident unfolded about 11 p.m., when a bicyclist said seven males — two armed with handguns — approached him near the BART path to the rear of 11880 San Pablo Ave.

The victim was knocked off the bike, pistol-whipped and robbed of his wallet, which contained $75 cash, his driver’s license and credit card, police said.

Officers canvassed the area for witnesses, suspects and other possible victims and eventually found a group of males fitting the description of the suspects walking in the area of Wall Street and S. 45th Street. The group was detained and positively identified by the victim, police said.

Jahhi Johnson, 20, and Delbert Stallworth, 18,  both Richmond residents, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery along with five juveniles.

The juvenile suspects, who aren’t being named due to their age, were taken to Juvenile Hall and the adult males were taken to the Martinez Detention Facility, police said.
