Funeral arrangements have been set for 37-year-old Michael Shumake, who was tragically struck and killed by a Capitol Corridor train in Richmond last week.
Shumake, a Richmond resident, will be remembered on June 26 at the Power House Church at 1400 Sutter Ave. in San Pablo. Services begin at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Bishop Melvin Scott, according to Shumake’s uncle, the Rev. Andre Shumake of Richmond.
Michael Shumake was fatally struck by a westbound train in the area of Nevin Avenue and 19th Street about 3:40 p.m. June 12, authorities said.
The family was stunned by the sudden death and don’t know what led to the collision. The death was reportedly being treated as an accident by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
“The family seeks prayers from the community,” the reverend said Thursday.
