Expect amazing sounds to come out of Temple Beth Hillel in Richmond this weekend.

The popular Kol Truah Jewish Choir of the East Bay is scheduled on Saturday to lead a celebration of music at the Jewish place of worship at 801 Park Central St. Check out the YouTube video below from one of the choir’s latest performances.

The special performance of “Simple Gifts” starts at 7 p.m., organizers said, and will celebrate the music of composer-in-residence Robert Schoen, who recently debuted his “Bossa Sabbath,” a fusion of different styles in choral music from jazz to classical to bossa, at Temple Sanai in Oakland.

Saturday’s program at Temple Beth Hillel will feature musical  arrangements by Aaron Copland of “Old  American Songs,” and pieces by Leonard Bernstein.

The cost of admission is $15, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. The performance is open to all community members, who are encouraged to bring friends.

The Kol Truah choir is dedicated to preserving and performing Jewish music and have been known to break out some gospel, jazz, show tunes and other types of music.
