The nonprofit For Richmond reported a promising story for local residents today: New York startup Blue Apron is adding 400 full-time employees at its fulfillment center in Richmond.

Blue Apron delivers fresh, pre-measured food ingredients to homes, allowing customers to prepare home-cooked meals quickly without having to go to the supermarket.

Job openings are available on the fulfillment center’s kitchen and packing teams. The hourly positions offer eight-hour shifts, four to five days a week, along with competitive benefits packages. Jobs start at $12 an hour, according to the KRON report below. And check out this great perk: Free lunch is served daily to employees, who also get discounts on the company’s meal subscriptions.

“These jobs are available NOW,” For Richmond stated in its post, mentioning the openings are welcome news as Richmond grapples with a 11.5-percent unemployment rate.
