Adult volleyball: San Marcos bounces back to defeat Pink Panthers

WCCUSD sports schedule for this week includes postseason volleyball, football

San Marcos was able to overcome a hot start by the Pink Panthers to pull off a win in the City of Richmond’s Adult Volleyball League on Wednesday.

The Pink Panthers attacked San Marcos in Game 1 with a flurry of dinks and heavy spikes and won 25-15. But the momentum shifted in Game 2, which was fueled by service runs.

With San Marcos ahead 21-14, the Pink Panthers lost service on a communication error, resulting in a side out for San Marcos. San Marcos went on to seal the game 25-17 on an emphatic spike.

Lengthy volleys filled the rubber match, and there were several lead changes.  One San Marcos player dug enough thunderous spikes from the Pink Panthers’ front line that she tried to shake the pain from her hands.  The Pink Panthers at one point had a 21-19, but San Marcos would go on a 6-1 run to win the deciding game.
