BART service between the Richmond and Berkeley stations will not experience delays this Sunday, as planned maintenance work was completed ahead of schedule.
The maintenance work was scheduled to occur seven Sundays starting April 13 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During those hours, service north of Berkeley, including at Richmond station, has been operating every 40 minutes instead of the usual 20 minutes.
On Friday, BART said riders will get a break this coming Sunday.
“Because the work crew was able to complete the replacement of the worn third rail safely and ahead of schedule, there will be no work on the Richmond Line this Sunday,” the agency said in a statement.
A BART official told the Richmond Standard that it wasn’t immediately clear whether additional work will be needed for the rest of May. Maintenance crews had also planned to take Sunday, May 18 off to allow regular service to carry riders to the annual Bay to Breakers footrace in San Francisco.
“This work is being scheduled when it will affect the fewest number of customers,” the transit agency said.
