april4-7arrestA 26-year-old man wanted on weapons charges could not outrun two Richmond police officers last weekend.

At 6:25 p.m. Saturday, two officers saw Francisco Becerra, of Richmond, allegedly taking part in a drug transaction with a group of men in the 700 block of 7th St., Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

After making contact with the group, the officers recognized Becerra and knew he was wanted on outstanding no-bail warrants for domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and vehicle theft. Becerra took off running but was caught by the two officers a short time later, Abetkov said.

He was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine.

Becerra has been connected to violent incidents in the past. In 2010, he was one of two men arrested in connection with a shooting at a home in the 100 block of Third Street that injured two people.
