Kennedy High’s star running back Ernie Timoteo has reportedly been offered a scholarship to play football for UC Berkeley.

David Perry, the athletic director at Kennedy High, said he learned about the offer on Friday while chatting with Cal’s running backs coach Pierre Ingram at the university team’s practice.

Perry said he spoke with Ingram about Timoteo in December. He was surprised at how swiftly the Cal coach moved to make an offer.

“This was honestly the quickest I have ever seen a player get offered, and Ernie definitely has the skillset to warrant the scholarship,” Perry said. “Hopefully this is the beginning of something special at Kennedy High School.

Timoteo is a 6-foot-2, 207-pound junior who not only has speed, but can really explode through gaps in a defense. He runs a 4.8 40-yard dash, according to ESPN. Watch the video below for highlights.

Last season, Timoteo reportedly rushed for 1,750 yards and 20 touchdowns in 10 games.
