A residential burglary was thwarted in Point Richmond Tuesday afternoon by a contractor who was working on the home, police said.
Officers responded to the burglary report about 2:45 p.m. on Bishop Avenue in Point Richmond, police spokesperson Nicole Abetkov said.
“The contractor working at the house found the two suspects inside the residence coming out of a back bedroom,” Abektov said. “One was a juvenile.”
The suspects tried to flee but the juvenile was held at the scene until police arrived. The adult suspect was stopped close by, Abetkov said.
The identities of the suspects have not been released.
On Twitter Wednesday morning, Police Chief Chris Magnus indicated that a retired cop helped out in the bust. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the contractor and retired cop are the same person. The chief stated that one of the suspects had jewelry in his pocket, presumably taken from the home.
