Two college scholarships available to West Contra Costa HS seniors

New service lets residents earn high school diplomas at Richmond Public Library

The Friends of the Richmond Public Library and Richmond Public Library Teen services are sponsoring two college scholarships for local high school students who are attending a four-year college this fall.

One of the scholarships is for $1,500 and the other $1,000.

Eligible students must reside in West Contra Costa County or attend a local public or private high school.

Application forms are available online here or can be accessed at the Richmond Public Library at  325 Civic Center Plaza or at the counseling or career offices of high schools in West Contra Costa County.

Applicants need to provide copies of a letter of intent to attend college or registration confirmation to a college.  In addition, applicants need to submit a three-page, double-spaced, typed essay entitled, “Public Libraries in the New Millennium:  programs and resources that will attract teenagers.”

Entries must be received by Friday, May 16 at 5 p.m.
