It sure pays to do well in school.
About 115 Lincoln Elementary School students who scored proficient or better on the California Standardized Test were invited last week to a day of fun at the Chevron Richmond refinery.
About 20 Chevron Richmond employees showed the students from third through sixth grades a well-deserved good time.
The day started off with a chemistry magic show, which the students “absolutely loved,” said Leah Casey, a community engagement specialist for Chevron Richmond.
The students then enjoyed breakfast at the refinery’s cafeteria before heading off to the Richmond Rod and Gun Club for an afternoon of activities that included basketball, whiffle ball, kickball and arts and crafts.
The day ended with a barbecue lunch.
