Although he was sidelined last season after having back surgery, former Kennedy High star athlete Kenneth Walker III is still super fast, and that speed is fueling his prospects on the UCLA football team, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The Times featured Walker on Thursday, describing a few big plays the receiver made during spring practice this week.

Walker reportedly has stiff competition on the UCLA roster, and it doesn’t help that he didn’t play last season. But UCLA apparently needs more speed. Walker has plenty to offer.

“What he has is pure, unadulterated speed,” receivers coach Eric Yarber told The Times. “I don’t have a whole bunch of that on this team, so he is going to give that over-the-top threat.”

The article pointed out that at Kennedy High, Walker reached the state finals in the 110- and 300- meter hurdles three straight years.

Walker said he became depressed while sidelined but is happy to return to the field and feels like a freshman again.
