Future BART car design revised to better serve disabled groups

BART has unveiled the design of its future fleet of train cars.

The transit agency is holding events at 10 stations between April 16 and May 9 to allow the public to tour a model car and provide feedback.

“This is the final review of the train car design before manufacturing and testing begin,” BART said.

The new train car is quieter, with “micro-plug” doors to seal out noise, and has a more efficient cooling system for hot days, the transit agency said. There are also padded seats with lumbar support with an easily wipeable fabric.
