Both the girls and boys Salesian basketball teams advanced to the North Coast Section Division IV semifinals following decisive wins Saturday.

For the girls, top-seeded Salesian defeated No. 8 Lick-Wilmerding 69-27 in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

The No. 3 Salesian boys topped No. 6 Marin Catholic 84-69.

The girls team will next play No. 4 Arcata and the boys will face No. 2 St. Patrick/St. Vincent on Wednesday for the right to play in the NCS championship.

After a 13-2 first quarter lead, the Pride girls (26-5) never looked back. Senior Isabell Ampon led Salesian in scoring with 15 points and also added 3 rebound and 2 steals.

Junior Kian McNair and Senior Zoe Correal each added 11 points, while senior Jackie Lizarraga chipped in 6 and Mariya Moore 5.  Deja Stallworth, Minyon Moore, JulieAnne Martin and Alana Horton each added 4 points.

McNair also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Stallworth and Correal led Salesian in rebounds with 7 apiece.

For the Salesian boys (19-13), senior center Jonathan Galloway scored the first 10 points of the game and finished with 19, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Bernard Ward added 17 points, Marquel Johnson had 15 points, De’Angelo Hernandez had 12, DeMar Dunn 10 and  Brandon McGhee 6.
