Richmond police reported a violent struggle over a shotgun during a domestic violence dispute Saturday.A man managed to wrestle a shotgun away from a female attacker during an apparent domestic violence dispute in Richmond Saturday morning, police said.

Police responded to the incident near 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue about 9 a.m., police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

Right before an officer arrived at the scene, the victim struggled with the female suspect over the shotgun, which was later found to be unloaded, Abetkov said.

“The victim was able to get shotgun away from the suspect right as (the officer) pulls up,” Abetkov said.

The female suspect, who isn’t being identified, was taken into custody. No other details have been released.
