Richmond police have launched a crackdown on prostitution along Ohio Avenue and are asking residents to call dispatch if they see such activity.

“We will be making contact with Johns in the area,” the department posted on its Facebook page Thursday, adding, “We need your help.”

Police are asking neighbors who see prostitution on Ohio to report it to dispatch at (510) 233-1214. If you managed to jot down the license plate number, contact (510) 447-0821 and leave a message that includes the date, time, what activity you saw and a full license plate number. Partial numbers won’t be accepted, and only calls about prostitution on Ohio are being accepted at this time.

Residents should not place themselves in danger, police said.

“Only report what you can safely see to obtain the plate number. RPD personnel will make contact with suspicious vehicles.”
