Richmond residents can get a good deal while doing a good deed this weekend.

Vista Christian School, the private, nonprofit elementary school at 2354 Andrade Ave., is hosting its first community yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

School officials are calling on community members to rent a booth to raise funds for the school of about 90 students.

“We are a small community school and our owner insists on keeping tuition affordable to give ordinary Richmond residents an opportunity to give their children a private school education,” said Christine Jones, who teaches the seventh and eighth grades.

At age 94, school founder Marguerite Odling continues to show up for school daily, Jones said.

Eighth graders at the 38-year-old K-8 school are selling 10×10 booth spaces for $25 apiece.

No food may be sold at the yard sale, Principal Dennis Snyder said. All items must be removed from the premises at the end of the sale, Snyder added, and renters must provide their own table.
