A 24-year-old man became Richmond’s second homicide of the week and year after being shot Friday night, police said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting near S. 35th Street and Wall Avenue about 10 p.m., police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

Clarence Wesley Celestine Jr. was found lying on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Abetkvo said. The Richmond resident was transported to John Muir Medical Center, where he died about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

No arrests have been made. Police are searching for a dark-colored Acura or similar type of vehicle that was seen leaving the area.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the Richmond Police Department’s non emergency line at (510) 233-1214 or the anonymous tip line at (510) 232-TIPS.

Police are also seeking information on a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in the Sante Fe neighborhood. A woman who was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near S. 4th Street and Florida Avenue died at the scene. No arrests have been made in that incident, Abetkov, said. The woman’s identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified, according to police.

Last year, Richmond’s homicide total of 16 was its lowest in 33 years.
