Aftermath of crash that killed Harold “Ace” Mason, 39

A 36-year-old Stockton mother is facing a felony vehicular manslaughter charge in connection with a deadly Hilltop area crash last week.

Chanetta Flanagan, who is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges this afternoon, is also facing two counts of driving while intoxicated causing great bodily injury, two counts of felony child endangerment and multiple enhancements for driving despite having her license suspended for a prior DUI conviction.

Flanagan was driving a white sedan on San Pablo Avenue that struck a tree near Stanton Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

Flanagan’s boyfriend Harold “Ace” Mason, 39, of Richmond was pronounced dead at the scene while two girls ages 3 and 5 suffered major injuries. Only the 3-year-old, who was Flanagan’s daughter, was properly restrained in a car seat. The 5-year-old, who is Flanagan’s niece, was not restrained, police said.
