Five gifted local athletes were part of National Signing Day Wednesday, the first day that high school seniors across the country can sign a binding letter of intent to play for a school in the NCAA.

This year’s class include cornerback Adarius Pickett (UCLA) of El Cerrito High, outside linebacker DJ Calhoun (Arizona St.) of El Cerrito High, wide receiver Jalen Harvey (Arizona St.) of El Cerrito High, defensive back Juwain Harrison (Weber State) of Salesian High, and wide receiver Marquis Pippins, (Weber State) of El Cerrito High.
