womenbb2-16mmbasketball2-16Following their stellar seasons, the Kennedy and Salesian girls varsity basketball teams had byes in Friday’s first round of the Tri County Athletic League tournament.

Top-seeded Salesian will host Albany in the second round Tuesday at 7 p.m. Albany defeated El Cerrito 38-23 in the first round.

Also Tuesday at 7 p.m., fourth-seeded Kennedy will host eighth-seeded St. Joseph Notre Dame, which advanced following a 63-24 defeat of De Anza in the first round.

The Richmond High girls failed to advance after falling to Pinole 70-26.

In boy’s varsity, eighth-seeded Salesian moved on to the second-round following a 54-14 win over Richmond. Salesian will move on to play at fourth-seeded Albany Tuesday.

Eleventh-seeded Kennedy joined Richmond in being knocked out of the tournament by falling to sixth-seeded St. Patrick-St. Vincent, 86-58.
