The young Richmond Oilers boys soccer team fought hard but fell 2-1 to Monte Vista in the quarterfinals of the North Coast Section Division 1 playoffs on Saturday.

The seventh-seeded Oilers’ (15-7-3) lone score reportedly came from Harold Erroa in the 24th minute that tied up the game.

Monte Vista’s scores from Jeff Greenberg and Charles Zaloumis both came during the first half.

Second-seeded Monte Vista (19-3-2) will next play sixth-seeded Amador Valley (19-4-3) in the semifinals Wednesday.  In the other semifinal, top-seeded De La Salle (15-6-3) will face fifth-seeded San Ramon Valley (17-7-1).
