The victim of the deadly crash, Harold “Ace” Mason, was honored on Facebook.

Prosecutors are considering filing murder charges against a 36-year-old Stockton woman in connection with a solo-vehicle crash last week in the Hilltop area that killed her boyfriend and critically injured two children.

Chanetta Flanagan was allegedly under the influence  of alcohol when the white sedan she was driving on San Pablo Avenue struck a tree near Stanton Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

Flanagan’s boyfriend Harold “Ace” Mason, 39, of Richmond was pronounced dead at the scene while two girls ages 3 and 5 suffered major injuries. Only the 3-year-old, who was Flanagan’s daughter, was properly restrained in a car seat, Richmond police spokeswoman Nicole Abetkov said. The 5-year-old is Flanagan’s niece, according to a KTVU (Ch. 2) report.

Flanagan, who was also hospitalized after the crash but was reportedly in stable condition, already had a suspended license for DUI-related charges, police said.

She was booked Saturday on charges including vehicular manslaughter, DUI and child endangerment, Abetkov said, and her bail was set at $1.3 million.

However, the charges could get much steeper.

“The traffic officer handling the case is meeting with the District Attorney’s office [Tuesday] for filing on the case,” Abetkov said. “They are looking at possible murder charges due to the fact she is already on probation for DUI.”
