A clumsy carjacker gave up on a heist last weekend because he could not figure out how to release the emergency brake, according to police.
The robbery reportedly occurred in the 100 block of S 20th St. about 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The suspect, described only as a man in his 20s wearing dark clothing, stole a wallet and phone from the victim and then tried to steal his car.
After he couldn’t figure out the emergency brake, the robber gave up and fled on foot, Police Chief Chris Magnus said. Police were called, but the suspect was not found.
The case remains under investigation and there is “no further information at this time,” Richmond police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said Tuesday morning.
