Richmond residents are encouraged to use the public library’s new online Discover & Go service, which allows library patrons to get free or discounted passes to a long list of museums and other cultural institutions in the Bay Area.

The program, created by the Contra Costa County Library System, offers deals for 46 institutions including the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley and the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito.

Richmond Public Library members can access the deals here. A full list of participating institutions can be found here.

After entering your library card number, members can click on future calendar dates to see what institutions are offering deals that day. Once members reserve a date and receive a confirmation email, they can log onto their Discover & Go account to print out their tickets.

“We encourage you to check out a cool new place for yourself, and to spread the word on this adventurous new program and the participating organizations,” Richmond City Manager Bill Lindsay wrote in his weekly newsletter.

For more information, call the Richmond Public Library main branch’s reference desk at (510) 620-6561.
