moore_mariya_2011Salesian High girls basketball star Mariya Moore has been named to the East team of the McDonald All-American game, which takes place April 2 at the United Center in Chicago.

The 6-foot guard, who is set to play for the University of Louisville next year, is having a stellar senior season at Salesian with 18.7 points and 7.9 assists per game.

The Hercules resident is ranked the 25th best high school basketball player in the country on FullCourt.com. This year, she’s helped lead Salesian to a 7-0 record in league play and 17-5 overall.

Moore had a quadruple-double in a recent game against South Medford, noted Cardinal Authority, a website tracking Louisville sports.

The McDonald All-American boys and girls teams were selected from a field of 1,000 nominees. Past elite players who have played in McDonald All-American games include Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant. LeBron James, Sylvia Fowles, Candace Parker, Maya Moore and Elena Delle Donne.
