The Martin Luther King Jr holiday in Richmond was a day of sun, fun and hard work – and there are pictures to prove it.

Check out these Flickr photos posted by the health and environment department capturing the annual MLK Jr. volunteer event along the Richmond Greenway.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, hundreds of volunteers worked on various community beautification projects between Sixth and 16th streets at Chanslor and Ohio avenues.

According to city officials, “Richmond ESC (Excellence Serving our Community) joined the Friends of the Richmond Greenway and hundreds of community partners and volunteers to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”
